A Margaret River holiday has a lot of different features to make it an enjoyable and exciting one. Situated in Western Australia, this vibrant little town is the place to find several lovely natural landmarks as well as a plethora of other destinations to keep visitors interested. The Mediterranean climate means that this place is excellent for a summer vacation and the excellent surf beaches complement this fact. The locale is also popular for its many boutique vineyards and with lots of ideally located lodging throughout the town tourists will be spoilt for choice.

The Local Caves

One of the things to establish is on your list of pursuits on a Margaret River holiday is a visit to one, or two of the one hundred and hundred and fifty caves in and about the town. Perhaps the best of these magnificent caves are the Mammoth, the Jewel and the Lake. They are easily accessible from the town but a carefully guided tour will not only be able to get you around securely, but will also reveal the fascinating stories behind each cave. Lots of of these trips are absolutely suited to family members, with catering services and gift stores available on site.

Watch the Whales

A Margaret River Holiday would not be complete without a trip to watch the whale’s dash and frolic in the ocean. This is a generally a rare experience for many people and viewing the huge majestic shape of a humpback whale as it glides through the waters can be a thrilling and psychological experience. To obtain the best option of seeing these magnificent creatures in action it is right to go on a trip between June and October since this is when they go their once-a-year migration and there is a greater chance of recognizing them. There are many spots that are appropriate for whale watching but it depends on the time of year that you are visiting. During June a fine place to find them is from Flinders Bay, which is approximately 40 minutes south of the town. Cape Leeuwin offers the best vantage point from July to August. You can also take advantage of one of the many whale watching boat tours that operate from certain areas.
